12.Higashi.Honganji.south.hall * The secondary temple hall. On the right, you can see a corridor which connects it to the main hall. I walked into it and I could just take a few peeks inside the main hall, but I wasn't able to see the whole picture (nor  take any that were worthy...) * 2843 x 1702 * (1.38MB)

13.Wooden.Sledge * This wooden sledge is one of many, used for transporting the huge pieces of timber from the mountainous areas of Japan through thick snow for the construction of Higashi Hongan-ji halls. Many people lost their lives during this time in avalanches. * 2817 x 1886 * (967KB)

14.Kezuna * This is one of many Kezuna ropes, especially made with the hair of female devotees who wished for the success of the halls' reconstruction in 1895.
As normal rope, at that time, was of lower quality, hair was preferred. The hair ropes were used for transporting and hanging the huge beams which you can see today in the main framework of the two main halls.
