The Arc de Triomphe is located at the center of the circular Place Charles de Gaulle, which is a meeting point of 12 main streets that converge symmetrically. If you see the sky view of the Étoile (i.e. Star) on Google Earth, you'll see the 12 alternate coloured triangles, each one pointing from the center to one of the streets.
