The Champs Élysées is the most famous and prestigious avenue in Paris. The name refers to the Elysian Fields, the place of the blessed in Greek mythology. With its fancy and prestigious shops, the avenue runs for about 2km from Place Charles de Gaulle to Place de la Concorde (which you can recognize by the obelisk in the photo). After that, the straight line continues traversing the Jardin de Toulieres and ending up into the Louvre's courtyard.
The Champs Élysées is part of the Axe Historique, which continues on the other side of the Étoile to reach La Defense quarter.
