Past the gate, on the left you can see the Shaka-do, the Chief Priest's quarters. Built in Muromachi period (some time between 1336 and 1573), this building is known as a true example of Shoin-zukuri (study-style) architecture. There are six rooms, each decorated with gorgeous fusuma such as the Matsutori-zu and the Gunsen-zu.
